The Consolidated B-24 Liberator is a heavy bomber aircraft that was widely used by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) in World War II. The B-24 was designed by Consolidated Aircraft Corporation and first flew in 1939. It was one of the most successful bombers of the war, with over 18,000 built. The B-24 was used in a variety of roles, including strategic bombing, tactical bombing, and maritime patrol. It was also used as a transport aircraft and as a gunship. The B-24 was retired from service in the 1950s.
