The Blue Horsehead Nebula, officially known as IC 4592, is a reflection nebula located in the constellation Scorpius, about 400 light-years from Earth. Its distinctive horsehead shape appears in deep-sky images due to dark interstellar dust silhouetted against a glowing blue backdrop. The blue color comes from starlight, primarily from the nearby bright star Nu Scorpii, scattering off dust particles in the nebula.
