The South Bend Blue Sox was a professional women's baseball team that played from 1943 to 1954. Established during World War II, the league aimed to maintain public interest in baseball while many male players were serving in the military. The Blue Sox were one of the league's original four teams and played their home games at Bendix Field and later at Playland Park, which was better equipped and more centrally located, leading to increased attendance.
