The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter is a single-engine, supersonic fighter aircraft designed for the United States Air Force (USAF) during the Cold War. It was produced by Lockheed's Skunk Works division and entered service in 1958. The F-104 was the first fighter capable of Mach 2, and it set numerous world records in its day. It was also the first aircraft to be equipped with an internal cannon that could fire through the nose of the aircraft.
