The Sopwith 7F1 Snipe was a British single-seat fighter aircraft used by the Royal Air Force and other Allied air services during World War I. A development of the earlier Sopwith Camel, the Snipe was designed to address the Camel's shortcomings in high-altitude performance. The Snipe was powered by a more powerful engine and had a redesigned wing that gave it a higher rate of climb and a faster level speed than the Camel. The Snipe was also armed with two synchronized machine guns, which gave it a significant advantage over the Camel's single gun.
