The Sopwith 7F1 Snipe was a British single-seat biplane fighter aircraft developed by the Sopwith Aviation Company during World War I. A development of the earlier Sopwith Camel, the Snipe was designed to address the shortcomings of its predecessor, particularly its lack of speed and maneuverability. The Snipe entered service with the Royal Air Force in 1918 and quickly proved to be a formidable opponent for German aircraft. The Snipe was credited with 127 victories during the war, making it one of the most successful fighter aircraft of World War I.
