The Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1a was a German World War II jet fighter aircraft. It was the first operational jet fighter in the world, entering service in 1944. The Me 262 was designed by Willy Messerschmitt and was powered by two Junkers Jumo 004B turbojet engines. It had a maximum speed of 540 mph (870 km/h) and a range of 650 miles (1,050 km). The Me 262 was armed with four 30 mm MK 108 cannons.
