The Orion Nebula, also known as M42 or NGC 1976, is a diffuse nebula situated in the constellation of Orion. It is one of the brightest nebulae in the night sky and is easily visible to the naked eye. The nebula is located at a distance of about 1,350 light-years from Earth and is estimated to be about 2 million years old. It is a region of star formation and contains many young stars, including the Trapezium Cluster. The nebula is also home to several Herbig-Haro objects, which are small regions of ionized gas that are associated with young stars.
