Lockheed Starlifter USA

The Lockheed C-141 Starlifter is a military transport aircraft designed and built by Lockheed for the United States Air Force (USAF). The Starlifter was developed in the 1960s as a replacement for the piston-powered C-124 Globemaster II, and entered service in 1965. The C-141 was designed to meet the USAF's requirement for a long-range, heavy-lift transport aircraft capable of carrying troops, cargo, and vehicles. The Starlifter has a distinctive twin-boom fuselage and a high-mounted wing, and is powered by four turbofan engines. The C-141 was used extensively during the Vietnam War and the Cold War, and remained in service with the USAF until 2006. The Starlifter was replaced by the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III.
