BELL XV 15 AIRCRAFT

The Bell XV-15 is a tiltrotor VTOL aircraft developed by Bell Helicopter Textron for the United States Army and NASA in the 1970s. The XV-15 was designed to combine the vertical takeoff and landing capabilities of a helicopter with the high-speed cruise performance of a fixed-wing aircraft. The aircraft had a unique tilting rotor design that allowed it to take off and land vertically, but also to fly at high speeds in forward flight. The XV-15 was a successful proof of concept, and it paved the way for the development of future tiltrotor aircraft, such as the V-22 Osprey.
