The Golden Temple, also known as Harmandir Sahib, is a gurdwara located in the city of Amritsar, Punjab, India. It is the holiest gurdwara of Sikhism, and was built in the 16th century by the fifth Sikh guru, Guru Arjan Dev. The temple is located in the center of a large sarovar, or holy tank, and is surrounded by a white marble walkway. The temple is made of gold-plated copper and features intricate carvings and designs. The Golden Temple is a popular pilgrimage site for Sikhs from all over the world.
