Ukiyo e Three Carps

Ukiyo e Three Carps is a woodblock print by the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai. It is part of his series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, and was published between 1829 and 1833. The print depicts three carp swimming in a pond. The carp are shown in different stages of movement, with the one in the foreground swimming up, the one in the middle swimming down, and the one in the background swimming to the left. The print is done in a sumi-e style, with black ink on white paper. The carp are depicted in a realistic style, with fine detail and shading. The water is depicted in a more abstract style, with simple brushstrokes. The print is a classic example of Japanese woodblock printing, and is one of Hokusai's most famous works.
