The Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird is a retired strategic reconnaissance aircraft developed and operated by the United States Air Force. It was designed as a high-altitude, high-speed reconnaissance platform, and served from 1964 to 1998. The SR-71 was capable of Mach 3 and could fly at altitudes of over 80,000 feet, making it one of the fastest and highest-flying aircraft ever built.
