The album was recorded in New York City on February 25, 1966, and features Hurt performing solo on guitar and vocals. The album's nine tracks include traditional blues songs, as well as original compositions by Hurt. Today is considered to be one of Hurt's best albums, and has been praised for its raw and emotional performances.
