The Boeing 737-100 is a narrow-body, twin-engine jet airliner, and the original member of the Boeing 737 family. It was developed to replace the Boeing 727, and entered service in 1968. The 737-100 is the shortest variant of the 737, with a length of 93 feet 3 inches (28.4 meters). It has a wingspan of 94 feet 8 inches (28.8 meters) and a height of 36 feet 6 inches (11.1 meters). The 737-100 is powered by two Pratt & Whitney JT8D-9 turbofan engines, each producing 14,500 pounds of thrust. It has a maximum cruising speed of 590 miles per hour (950 kilometers per hour) and a range of 1,800 miles (2,900 kilometers). The 737-100 was a popular airliner, with over 300 built. It was used by a variety of airlines around the world, including American Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta Air Lines. The 737-100 is now retired from service, but it remains a popular collector's item.
