Jessica Mitford was a British writer and political activist, best known for her work on the Mitford sisters, an upper-class family with six daughters who became prominent in British society in the 1920s and 1930s. Jessica Mitford was the youngest of the sisters and the only one to reject the family's conservative values. She became a communist and a supporter of the Spanish Civil War. After World War II, she moved to the United States, where she continued to write and work for social justice.
