The Petlyakov Pe-2 was a Soviet dive bomber and ground-attack aircraft used in World War II. It was designed by Vladimir Petlyakov and first flew in 1939. The Pe-2 was a twin-engine, all-metal monoplane with a crew of three. It was armed with two 20 mm cannon and two 7.62 mm machine guns. The Pe-2 was a versatile and effective aircraft that saw service on all fronts of the war. It was particularly effective in the ground-attack role, where its dive bombing capabilities were devastating. The Pe-2 was also used as a night fighter and reconnaissance aircraft.
