Fahrenheit 451 is a 1966 British science fiction film directed by François Truffaut, based on the 1953 dystopian novel of the same name by Ray Bradbury. The film stars Oskar Werner as Guy Montag, a fireman who is tasked with burning books in a society where they are banned. Julie Christie co-stars as Clarisse, a young woman who Montag meets and who opens his eyes to the possibility of a different life. The film was a critical and commercial success, and it is now considered to be one of the best adaptations of Bradbury's work.
