Osvaldo Pugliese was an Argentine tango musician, bandoneon player, and orchestra leader. He was one of the most important figures in the history of tango. Pugliese was born in Buenos Aires on December 2, 1905. He began playing the bandoneon at an early age and soon became a professional musician. In 1936, he formed his own orchestra, which quickly became one of the most popular tango orchestras in Argentina. Pugliese's music was characterized by its strong rhythmic drive and its use of complex harmonies. He was also known for his innovative use of the bandoneon. Pugliese died in Buenos Aires on July 25, 1995.
