Steve Prefontaine
Steve Prefontaine was an American middle-distance runner who competed in the 1970s. He was known for his aggressive running style and his long, flowing hair. Prefontaine was a two-time NCAA champion and set American records in the 2-mile and 5,000-meter runs. He was also a member of the 1972 U.S. Olympic team. Prefontaine died in a car accident in 1975 at the age of 24. He is considered one of the greatest middle-distance runners of all time.
