SATURN V
The Saturn V was a three-stage rocket used by NASA for the Apollo program. It was the most powerful rocket ever built, and it remains the only rocket to have sent humans to the moon. The Saturn V was 363 feet tall and weighed 6.5 million pounds. It had three stages, each of which was powered by five rocket engines. The first stage, the S-IC, was the largest and most powerful rocket engine ever built. It produced 7.5 million pounds of thrust and burned for 2.5 minutes. The second stage, the S-II, produced 1 million pounds of thrust and burned for 6 minutes. The third stage, the S-IVB, produced 200,000 pounds of thrust and burned for 2 minutes. The Saturn V was launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It took 12 minutes for the Saturn V to reach orbit. The Saturn V was a remarkable engineering achievement, and it played a key role in the success of the Apollo program.
