The Apollo Lunar Module was a spacecraft used by NASA to land humans on the Moon. It consisted of two stages: a descent stage that landed on the Moon and an ascent stage that took astronauts back to the Apollo command module. The module was designed by Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation and built by North American Aviation. It was first used in the Apollo 11 mission in 1969, and was last used in the Apollo 17 mission in 1972.
