This artwork is a reinterpretation of Andy Warhol's famous 1964 silkscreen print of Marilyn Monroe. The original painting is part of Warhol's Shot Marilyns series, which features four silkscreen prints of Monroe's face, each with a different colored background. The prints were created by Warhol using a silkscreen process, in which ink is forced through a stencil onto paper. The image of Monroe is based on a publicity photograph taken by Gene Korman in 1953. Warhol's Shot Marilyns series is one of his most iconic works and is considered to be a masterpiece of pop art.
