The Place de la Concorde is a large public square in Paris, France. It is home to the Obelisk of Luxor, a 3,300-year-old Egyptian obelisk that was gifted to France by the Ottoman Empire in 1831. Place de la Concorde is also home to two monumental fountains designed by Jacques Ignace Hittorff and sculpted by Edme Gaulle and Alfred Jacquemart. The fountains were completed in 1840 and are decorated with allegorical sculptures representing the rivers and oceans of the world.
