The North American F-82 Twin Mustang is a World War II-era American fighter aircraft. It was designed by North American Aviation as a long-range escort fighter for the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF). The F-82 was a twin-engine, two-seat aircraft with a distinctive fuselage that housed two Allison V-12 engines. The aircraft had a wingspan of 54 feet and a length of 40 feet. It was armed with six .50-caliber machine guns and could carry up to 2,000 pounds of bombs or rockets. The F-82 was used in combat in the Pacific Theater during World War II and was later used by the United States Air Force in the Korean War.
