The Rockwell XFV-12 was a proposed American VTOL strike fighter designed by Rockwell International in the 1960s. The aircraft was intended to be a carrier-based fighter for the United States Navy, but the project was canceled in 1968. The XFV-12 was a unique aircraft that featured a variable-geometry wing and a lift fan that allowed it to take off and land vertically. The aircraft was also designed to be supersonic, and it was hoped that it would be able to replace the Navy's existing fleet of carrier-based fighters. However, the XFV-12 was never built, and the project was eventually canceled.
