The Yakovlev Yak-23 was a Soviet experimental fighter aircraft of the 1940s. It was designed by Alexander Sergeyevich Yakovlev and was intended to be a lightweight, high-performance fighter to counter the threat of German jet fighters. The Yak-23 was powered by a single Mikulin AM-42 turbojet engine and had a maximum speed of 460 mph. It was armed with two 23mm cannons and had a range of 400 miles.
