The Blackburn Skua was a British carrier-based dive bomber and fighter aircraft of the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm during the Second World War. Designed by Blackburn Aircraft Limited, it was the first aircraft to be designed specifically for the role of dive bombing, and entered service in 1938. The Skua saw action in the early stages of the war, including the Norwegian Campaign and the Battle of Dunkirk, but was withdrawn from front-line service in 1940 due to its vulnerability to enemy fighters. It continued to be used as a training aircraft and in secondary roles until the end of the war.
