The Messerschmitt Bf 109 is a German World War II fighter aircraft that was the backbone of the Luftwaffe's fighter force. Designed by Willy Messerschmitt, it was one of the most advanced fighters of its time, and saw extensive combat on all fronts of the war. The Bf 109 was powered by a Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine and had a maximum speed of 357 mph. It was armed with two 7.92 mm machine guns and one 20 mm cannon.
