The Sukhoi Su-9 (NATO reporting name: Fishpot) was a Soviet single-seat, twin-engine, supersonic interceptor aircraft developed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau and manufactured by the Novosibirsk Aircraft Production Association. The Su-9 was designed in the late 1950s as a replacement for the MiG-19 and entered service in 1959. The Su-9 was armed with two 30 mm cannon and could carry a variety of air-to-air missiles. The Su-9 was exported to several countries, including China, Egypt, and North Korea. The Su-9 was retired from service in the 1980s.
