The Ilyushin Il-28 is a Soviet bomber aircraft designed by the Ilyushin design bureau and produced by the Soviet Union from 1948 to 1954. It was the first jet bomber to enter service with the Soviet Air Force and was widely exported to other countries. The Il-28 was a twin-engine, mid-wing monoplane with a distinctive glazed nose and a crew of three. It was powered by two Mikulin AM-3 turbojet engines and had a maximum speed of 600 mph. The Il-28 was armed with four 23 mm cannons and could carry a variety of bombs and missiles. It was used in a number of conflicts, including the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
