The Douglas F4D Skyray is a single-seat, carrier-based fighter jet designed by Douglas Aircraft Company in the 1950s. It was the first U.S. Navy fighter to exceed Mach 1 in level flight and held the world speed record for a short time. The Skyray was armed with four 20 mm cannons and could carry a variety of missiles and bombs. It served with the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1964 and saw action in the Vietnam War.
