The USS Macon (ZRS-5) was a United States Navy rigid airship that operated from 1933 to 1935. It was the second of two Macon-class airships built for the Navy, and was intended to be used for scouting and patrol missions. The Macon was 785 feet (240 m) long and had a capacity of 2,700,000 cubic feet (76,000 m3) of helium. It was powered by eight 1,200 horsepower (890 kW) diesel engines and could reach a top speed of 84 miles per hour (135 km/h). The Macon was armed with four .50 caliber (12.7 mm) machine guns and two 20 millimeter (0.79 in) cannons.
