The Saturn V was a three-stage rocket used by NASA during the Apollo program in the 1960s and 1970s. It was the most powerful rocket ever built, and it remains the only rocket to have sent humans to the moon. The Saturn V was designed by Wernher von Braun and his team at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. It was built by Boeing and North American Aviation. The Saturn V was 363 feet tall and weighed 6.5 million pounds. It had three stages: the first stage was powered by five F-1 engines, the second stage was powered by five J-2 engines, and the third stage was powered by a single J-2 engine. The Saturn V could carry a payload of up to 140,000 pounds to low Earth orbit.
