The Delta II rocket, a medium-lift launch vehicle, was designed and built by Boeing. It was used for launching a variety of payloads into orbit, including satellites, probes, and telescopes. The rocket had three stages, each powered by a different engine. The first stage was powered by nine solid rocket boosters, the second stage by a single RS-27A engine, and the third stage by a single AJ10-118K engine. The Delta II rocket was launched from various sites around the world, including Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, and Kodiak Launch Complex in Alaska.
