A Christmas Carol is a novella by Charles Dickens, first published in 1843. The story follows Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly old man who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and three other ghosts on Christmas Eve. The ghosts show Scrooge his past, present, and future, and he is forced to confront his own selfishness and greed. The novella has been adapted into many different forms, including film, television, and theater.
