Once Was Wandering

Once Was Wandering is a woodblock print by the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai. It was published sometime between 1830 and 1833 as the first print in Hokusai's series, Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji. The print depicts a view of Mount Fuji from the sea, with a large pine tree in the foreground. A small boat with two people in it is on the water in the middle of the foreground. The sky is a light blue color, and the water is a deep blue color. The print is an example of ukiyo-e, a genre of Japanese woodblock printing that was popular in the 18th and 19th centuries.
