Saltwick Bay is situated slightly to the south of the fishing town of Whitby. It is famous for its fossils (principally ammonites and belemnites but also dinosaur/reptile remains). However; it also has photographic opportunities due to its North-East facing coastline. This means that at the height of summer the sun sets over the sea when looking North-West as well as rising over the sea when looking North-East.
