The M48 Patton is a main battle tank that was used by the United States and its allies during the Cold War. It was named after General George S. Patton, who was a prominent American military commander during World War II. The M48 Patton was first produced in 1952 and was used in a number of conflicts, including the Korean War and the Vietnam War. It was eventually replaced by the M60 Patton tank in the 1960s.
