The 2S9 Nona is a Soviet self-propelled artillery vehicle. It was developed in the late 1960s and entered service in 1971. The 2S9 is based on the chassis of the BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle. It is armed with a 120mm smoothbore gun that can fire a variety of ammunition, including high-explosive, armor-piercing, and incendiary rounds. The 2S9 has a range of 12 kilometers and a maximum rate of fire of 10 rounds per minute. It is a highly mobile and versatile weapon that has been used in a number of conflicts, including the Soviet-Afghan War and the Chechen Wars.
