The Short Stirling was a British heavy bomber aircraft of World War II. It was designed and built by Short Brothers of Rochester, Kent, and first flew in 1939. The Stirling was used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) from 1940 to 1945. A total of 2,380 Stirlings were built, and the type saw action in a variety of roles, including bombing, transport, and glider towing.
