The Martin B-57 Canberra, also known as the English Electric Canberra, is a British jet aircraft that was developed as a bomber and reconnaissance aircraft. It was designed by the English Electric Company and first flew in 1949. The Canberra was adopted by the Royal Air Force and served with distinction in a number of conflicts, including the Korean War and the Suez Crisis. It was also used by a number of other air forces around the world. The Canberra was a highly successful aircraft and remained in service for over 50 years. It is now retired from service, but a number of examples are still preserved in museums and airshows.
