The constellation contains two stars brighter than magnitude 4.0, Alpha Tucanae and Gamma Tucanae. Alpha Tucanae is a white dwarf star located 200 light years away from Earth. It has a visual magnitude of 2.87 and is the brightest star in the constellation. Gamma Tucanae is a yellow giant star located 159 light years away from Earth. It has a visual magnitude of 3.99 and is the second brightest star in the constellation.
