Meet Sinan Nalagath, one of our favorite artists, who's not afraid to shock us with his detailed art. He's a perfect example of a self-taught, who's achieved success using different, helpful tools and isn't scared of trying various styles. Learn from his example how to gradually become better in what you love doing the most.

Tell us some basic, but still - very important stuff about you - where are you from, where do you live, which creative area is your thing?

I am an artist from India ,currently based out of Bangalore city. I was born and grew up in Kerala, India's one the most serenely beautiful state with one of the most beautiful backwaters in the World. As a style, Surrealism has a great influence in my work, I do a lot of digital art sometimes fused with traditional mediums. If there were any way i could express whats on my mind, it is through a canvas painted with my imagination.

Have you ever studied art or maybe you’re a self-taught artist?

I am a self-taught artist and gradually over a period of time, I got better at it, I am always on look out to learn more and improve.

Where do you find ideas for your extremely detailed work?

Sometimes inspiration strikes when you least expect it, and when it does, I just begin to play around with it just like a kid playing with a toy where one phase of this process leads to another and inspires to create something that might be completely different from initial inspiration and it continues until something shapes up. Yet there can be times when there is no inspiration, I just like playing around with different elements to create something new. Other things that can also be very inspiring are nature, music ,books, movies along with awesome artworks. Travelling also can open doors to a newer perspective.

Can you think of anyone from the art world you’d love to collaborate with?

There are so many of my favorite artists, but I would love to collaborate with Tristan Eaton or Okudart because I simply love the surreal and vibrant feel of their style. If I could travel the time, I would love to collaborate with Dali.

How do you motivate yourself to create?

Creating art is one thing that never parted ways with me since I started, it's something that helps me sail through the toughest of my times and liberates me. I love being in the feel of creative zone and try to create something new every single day. The best way to describe this is through a Japanese word I came across, called- IKIGAI (the soul reason of getting out of bed each morning).

What design trends you find most stimulating nowadays?

I like almost everything, I am greedy that way! A lot of interesting concepts and styles I come across - they all have some kind of beauty in them which really stimulates the artist inside me. Other than that I show keen interest in photo-manipulations and digital art, I also lilke 3d rendered styles.

Is there any artwork you are most proud of?

I am proud of a lot of them, but if I have to pick one, I would choose 'DARK PASSENGER'. This particular piece continued to be an inspiration until it led to the entire collection of ‘AESTHETIC OF CHAOS'.

Which creative process excites you the most?

It usually starts with an inspiration, followed by research. Then comes my favorite part of the process, which is getting lost in the zone while the artwork takes its shape, it's almost like magic when it's fully done. I also get a little anxious when it's all ready to be published, but I do it anyway.

If you weren’t an artist – who would you be?

This question did occur to me a couple of times before but I really don't have an answer to this one. I am just doing something I like to do!

If you could think of any tips for beginners, dreaming to succeed in what you do - what would you tell them?

Always have courage to break the rules, go beyond the norms to express what you are without any fear. I believe artists are unique when they are a true reflection of themselves. It's very important to love what you do! I believe energy you put into the art will automatically resonates with the world.
